From lands they came
with faith, a flame,
In Cape town's heart, their name
Was build
through prayers and pain
Mosques rose where hope once lay
they stood strong every day
Spices filled the air, sweet with warmth
Their history meets
Colourful streets, a story told
They still sing, they still pray
The Cape Malay spirits are still there
