PRESERVING CAPE HERITAGE AND CULTURE THROUGH EXPLORING VISUAL ARTS AND EDUCATION
2025 YOUTH INITIATIVES
We have launched targeted Youth Initiatives - implementing a range of strategies including workshops, contests, and collaborative projects - in poverty stricken communities (Mitchells Plain, Stellenbosch [Kayamandi], Primrose Park, and Eerste River) in an effort to uplift and empower children from disadvantaged schools facing various challenges.
Our objective is to enhance our outreach to young people, leveraging the transformative power of art, cultural heritage, and critical thinking. The programmes aim to create a supportive environment that helps children navigate their difficulties, while addressing the inequalities and significant disparities they encounter.
Our goal as an NPO is to inspire the younger generation to take pride in their heritage while encouraging them to think critically. The youth are the leaders of tomorrow; and they are the guardians of our cultural legacy today!

Our Mission
Our Cape Town Heritage (OCTH) is a registered non-profit organization that preserves Cape heritage and culture by exploring visual art and history through education. OCTH reclaims the narrative of Cape Town’s diverse heritage and cultures by 'decolonizing the art world' through accessibility and storytelling.

Our mission is to preserve the heritage and culture of the Cape by exploring visual art and history through educational and youth-focused initiatives. Reclaiming the narrative of Cape Town’s diverse heritage by 'decolonizing the art world' to enhance accessibility and storytelling. We are committed to empowering communities and marginalized artists by showcasing their artwork in engaging exhibitions and across our platforms.
Through the power of education and artistic expression, we seek to motivate future generations to recognize the importance of their cultural heritage and to actively preserve it, ensuring that these tales echo through time.
At the heart of every successful nonprofit lies a Board of Directors committed to implementing best practice policies and procedures. These policies play a crucial role in ensuring the Board stays informed about the organization's progress, promotes accountability, and aids in making decisions that benefit the organization. Policies represent one of the many layers of regulations that govern our non-profit, and the absence of well-defined policies and procedures can lead to inconsistencies in operations, which can hinder teamwork, productivity, and efficiency. It is essential for the organization to focus on developing these frameworks to ensure satisfaction and maintain trust among stakeholders.

Explore Our New Store
At the start of October, we launched a brand-new online store featuring limited edition artwork prints by Gary Frier. By November, we expanded our offerings to include A6 Postcards showcasing the vibrant Bo-Kaap, captured by photographer Yasser Booley.
Our sales aim to foster sustainability and further our mission of educating through art, preserving cultural heritage, empowering underrepresented artists, sharing diverse stories, engaging communities and youth, facilitating dialogue, and reclaiming narratives.
We are committed to supporting small businesses and promoting their growth, which is why we partner with a local delivery service, Ish Courier.
We invite you to join us in this exciting journey by purchasing our prints by marginalized artists!
