The concept of "colouredness" or the "coloured experience" holds various implications that have undergone notable transformations in the last couple of centuries and most noticeably the last 3 decades. Our perception of cultural identity is shaped by internal and external elements such as the era and political climate of our birth, both on a local and global scale, the cultural milieu in which we were raised, and our social surroundings, among others.

Our Mission

Our Cape Town Heritage (OCTH) is a registered non-profit organization that preserves Cape heritage and culture by exploring visual art and history through education. OCTH reclaims the narrative of Cape Town’s diverse heritage and cultures by 'decolonizing the art world' through accessibility and storytelling.

  • PRESERVING CAPE HERITAGE AND CULTURE THROUGH EXPLORING VISUAL ARTS AND EDUCATION

  • EXPLORING HISTORY AND ART THROUGH STORYTELLING, ACCESSIBILITY AND EXHIBITIONS

  • EMPOWERING MARGINALIZED ARTISTS BY PROVIDING PRACTICAL SUPPORT TO SHOWCASE THEIR ARTWORK

  • EDUCATING AND INSPIRING COMMUNITIES TO EMBRACE CULTURAL HERITAGE

Every donation makes a difference

"Donating to a meaningful charity organisation relating to heritage, helps express values and builds bridges between cultures; it is a fundamental component of a healthy community. Strengthening communities socially, educationally and economically; and benefits persist even in difficult social and economic times, bringing joy and understanding. It unifies communities and improves individual well-being. It is the pulse of our existence"
